Planning Shots For A Video Blog Entry

Some video blogs are shot entirely in one take and from one camera angle, like a news segment with just one newscaster. Some might move the camera to follow the subject, but that's all. It's just one shot.

Others like askaninja use a completely different camera angles for every sentence or clause. The camera dances around randomly, constantly.

Still others like lonelygirl15 use one camera angle but due to the episodes being too long for the performer to deliver at once, have to cut between shots from the same angle. This seems to go against the 30 degree rule of film editing.

As a professional cinematographer, how would you plan the shots for a simple video-blog entry to be recorded in a small studio environment? Thanks.
