Planet Earth (BBC/Discovery Channel Miniseries)

[Brandon Rice]

So... I caught an episode of this once on TV, and had to get the box set... it's an absolutely fantastic series... if you're intrigued by nature and animals as I am, you'll love it... the cinematography is what stands out to me, as they shoot with HD cameras, and I believe at 24 frames per second... they also have a fabulous narrator and score for the show... It is really the first show of this kind I've seen that has a real cinematic feel... highly recommended!

(the high speed camera capturing the GREAT WHITE SHARK attacking the seal is AWESOME!)

Got it in HD, I doubt that shark you mentioned was shot 24p BTW.

Behind-the-scenes footage shows them shooting with the Panasonic Varicam on various rigs. Planet Earth is available on HD-DVD.

The foley and sound design is simply amazing.

Yep amazing I'm trying to sell my standard def DVD set right now to upgrade to HD. The great white scene was shot at 1000 fps. Do yourself a favor and buy the BBC set not Discovery.

Yeah, the BBC one is better, the narrator is better.
