Placing a 2000W bulb in a 650W arri fixture

Hello,

In the past I placed 350W bulbs in my ARRI 650W fixtures. But I was wondering, could I also do the opposite and place a 2000W bulb in my ARRI 650W fixture? Or would the bulb burst after 5 minutes due to the extra heat?

Thanks,

It's likely that the 650 does not have the proper wire gauge to handle 2000w. Something is going to melt. Don't do it. Well, you can do it for a few moments just to see what happens, but you're asking for trouble. If you did that on a set, and there was an incident, the liability is all on you.

Are you sure it wasn't a 300w bulb? Anyway I don't think the 2000w bulb shares the same base as the 650w bulbs.

Have you heard of the Darwin Award? Natural curiosity and "what if" are good qualities to have but only if modulated by common sense and a dash of safety-mindedness.
