Placing 2 still images in a same screen

Hello everybody!. I'm very new using vegas video 7 and I ran into this situation: I need to create a movie of a continuos slide show. The thing is that I need to place to different pictures every 5 sec in the same screen and then show another two pictures and so on. I was wondering if it is possible using something that I can place them in a sort of split screen?. Thanks for any help.
 
Use two video tracks. Put the two pics on them, one on top of the other. Use the pan/crop tool to resize or crop them as need be.
 
'Picture in Picture' is one way to do it (using Track Motion) but Pan/Crop may work just as well, depending on how you want the screen to look. It's worth learning how to use both tools (neither is difficult), they can each do things the other can't, both are incredibly useful.
