PL to EF?

yes converting the mount. I have EF but came across a PL mount lens at a very good price (more than half off).

The lens is heavy so not sure if an adapter would work well vs if the lens was light?

Anything heavier and longer than a EF 70–200/2.8 or EF 100-400, I would really think about supporting. The standard EF mount was never designed to support heavy lenses. Heavy still lenses had still cameras hanging off their backs.

But to your original question, it just depends. Largely on how far (and how big) the rear element protrudes. And depending on the lens, there may be a factory/OEM option(like the Canon’s). If possible, I would see if there is an adapter that works with it, instead of converting it. Or even better, if there is a “universal” swappable mount that can be put on it that will allow you to change mounts yourself, at will. I have this on my 17-120.

Please talk to the experts who could actually do this for you www.ducloslenses.com

They just did some cine conversions for me of some CY Zeiss and they know what they are talking
about and are more detail oriented and precise than almost any entity I have ever worked with.
They won't sugar coat it, they'll tell you if what you want to do is viable and recommended or if it
will be a bad idea.

I have the Wooden Camera 19mm support system for the two heavy lens I own (photo), can't say it the best system since I haven't tried out any others but it does work so far. My thoughts were if I placed an EF adapter to the PL lens to connect to the C300 mkii EF mount that it may not secure well vs if the lens was a EF mount? The lens that I'm wanting to pick up is the Canon 30-300mm which is a match to my Canon 14.5-60mm. I'm currently looking at wrapping up a deal on a PL camera so this may solve all my problems.
