Pitching a Concept to Sports Station

We've been presented with a great opportunity to meet with a local sports station to pitch a show concept. Since this is a local station, we'll be responsible for everything (producing, directing, shooting, editing..)

Since we've never pitched an idea before I'm looking for any pointers and inside tips on what to expect. What sorts of question will they ask us? What will they expect us to present to them? Things like that…

Also what is the typical format of a 30 minute show? 4 commercial slots at 2 minutes each?

Thanks in advance!

i dont think there is an exact format for such a show but the most obvious way to find out is too watch a show similar to the one you plan to pitch. There may be a difference between "best damn sports show" and "Sports center" as for pitching there is another website you may want to check out. Its called www.tvwriter.com look under message board and then "the business of TV writing" the guy that runs the board is a vetran TV writer and the board has ben up for several years. do an archive search for pitching a show. here is a link to one post on that forum http://www.tvwriter.com/resources/bulletin1.htm
