Alright, FCP HD is what I got, recently upgraded from 3.

So since I don thave a deck, thought it would be a little easier on my Canon Elura to capture now. So I captured 8 minutes straight footage.

So I got one straight bar of 8 minutes. Usally on FCP3, I log it from there, cutting each scene and placing that scene into the bin and renaming them each time.
On HD however, I do the same thing but when I rename it...it renames the WHOLE freakin footage. Is there a off button I can press here?

maybe try "Make Indepenent Clip" by right clicking on clips dragged to the timeline...maybe I am way off here.

You should highlight the bin you want then go to I think MARK located in the top menu and select DV START/STOP DETECT. This will make subclips from every time you pressed the record button to start or stop recording. Instead of having one long piece of footage you will have it cut up in subclips.

If that works then you have just saved me a lot of time in the future!
