Pirates anyone?

I agree, too long...almost 3 hours?. I felt while there were some classic pirates moments...IMO the multi-plot juggling act with way too much money to spend may have lost a tad bit of the "magic" so to speak. Non the less it was what I expected, a rollercoaster.

Cheers.

Saw it last night. It was a satisfactory end to the trilogy.

Gore Verbinski is a phenomenon for being able to keep all of that story controlled. I'd argue that Dead Man's Chest meandered a bit, but that At World's End was driving towards its climax from frame one. Also considering the state of the shooting script for most of At World's End's production, it's a small miracle that the movie was any good at all. Kudos to Verbinski and his team.

They'll need to be really careful with a Pirates 4. Sure the setup is there, but I believe there's a reason that most series end on a trilogy ... or at least should. :)

And anyone who sees At World's End needs to stay through all of the credits.

Eh, it was alright. Honestly, I've found all of the Pirates movie to be suprisingly forgettable. Nothing sticks with me from them. Except for Davy Jones.

Overall I liked it.

Some of the wirlpool action was a bit over the top. The comedy scenes where Jack gets mad at that rock and talks to himself were pretty awesome though.

A pretty good end to the trilogy.....but I think they should wait a while if they do pirates 4.

The "locker" scene at the Salt Flats was sublime.

The nose, the tongue, the multiple exactly the same rocks...

I kept saying to myself in awe, I can't believe I'm watching this.

And then there were the sadly cheap moments such as Tia Dalma blowing up like a mushroom man in a Bill Murray movie where I said, I can't believe I'm watching this.

Long, yes. But I believe the length allowed for a better tempo, overall. I must say though, I wanted to see more of Keith Richards character...effin crazy! I thought the ending was bitter sweet, but hey it kicked the hell out of Dead Mans Chest's. The small nuisances such as the wooden eyepiece and the over all wrap up of the primary and secondary characters' storylines really did it for me! All in all, I loved how it all came together in the end(meaning the third movie in its entirety).

Saw it tonight... I agree, it was LOADS better than "Dead Man's Chest" and I felt one of the main reasons is because of the inclusion of Barbosa. He added so much to the film I felt. I still felt like it took too long to figure things out, and I felt that the villans in this film were again, just lame (Barbosa in Pirates 1 is the ONLY good villan in the series, IMHO) Either way, it was an enjoyable three hours, and I felt my money was well spent. The visual effects were once again flawless and incredible (this is the kind of effects I should have seen on Spiderman 3) So, yes, go see this film, it's a good one... right up there in my top 5 this year.

I wanted to like this film. Loved the first one, really enjoyed the second...but the third I did not enjoy as much. To me it looked like Jerry Buckheimer explosions wankfest 2007...and it was pretty lame IMO. The writers & the studio tried too hard...from what I hear they were really pushing to get a script out for POTC2, and I suspect something like that happened on this film.

Too long. Same thing happened with Spidey3...why do the studios feel they have to pack every single thing in the 3rd film? It blows.

Zimmer didn't shine with the score as much as usual. I was expecting to come out feeling like I'd just seen something awesome but it was quite the opposite.

Having said all that, it was still a fun watch and yes, the CGI was really impressive. The final product of the film is a special effects extravaganza. But it didn't capture that magic that the first one did...when you first see jack sparrow in the first one it's just great.

I absolutely loved Zimmer's score for this one. I think it's the best, musically, of all three films.
Make no mistake this film has a far darker, trippier tone about it, but it's nothing short of a big, beautiful, sweeping opera. Positively operatic from first to last frame.

The scenes in Davy Jones' Locker are fantastic, and the climactic sequence pulls out all the stops, just as I'd hoped it would.

I think these guys did a bang up job of tying everything together, especially considering that this thing was not conceived as a trilogy.
I hear a lot of complaints from critics that there's too much talking in the film. I get where these guys are coming from but, to be honest, I like these characters so much, I enjoy listening to them talk to one another.

And, for the record, I had no trouble whatsoever following who was double-crossing who and which side everybody was on. I'm always surprised to hear critics whining about it being hard to follow. It's perfectly easy to follow with just a modicum of attention.

Effects were not flawless, the whirlpool scene at the end had some pretty bad alpha channel blurring on the actors. It was either bad keying or rotoscoping. The same problems Narnia had.

Sucked. This is the year of the bad Hollywood blockbuster. The sequel has regressed back to the 80's. Come on Hollywood.

I'm not really looking forward to seeing this. I'm a big fan of the first, but HATED the second one. So since this was shot at the same time as the second, I don't have high hopes for it. I smell Matrix Sequals...

Did anyone not like the second one but really liked the third?

This movie gives me no hope for any Hollywood summer 'blockbusters' ever again...well...I'll give Transformers a try. But this movie was confusing, contrived, and very very long...After the first 30 minutes I just didn't care what happened in the movie.

Totally.

Everyone and there mother is whining about how complicated "Pirates" is. I mean, it's a damn pirate movie. How hard could it be? I didn't have any trouble following it either. Granted, there are a lot of characters, and each individual character has a given agenda, but if you ask me, that just gives the whole thing more depth.

I loved it. I think it's tied with the second one with me, the first being last. But interestingly enough, the two sequels make the first better when you look at it as a trilogy instead of three stand-alone-films.

And is it my imagination, or did I here a little sampling of "Once Upon a Time inthe West" when both sides met up on the beach?
