Pineapple Express

The best part of the trailer: "Thug Life"

David Gordon Green directed this - kinda different for him. I can't wait.

Its exciting to see 2 crews that are both so talented in different ways coming together. The David Gordon Green/Tim Orr filmmaking crew meets the Judd Apatow/Seth Rogan comedy crew. Can't wait for this one.

Saw this film last night, where to begin...

Ok, so I've been a pretty big fan of the whole Apatow movement, especially his earlier television work which was mostly brilliant. For some reason, however, this movie really didn't do it for me. At this point, all his movies are beginning to seem really similar (in terms of both plot and humor). This film seemed really hit or miss with the jokes, and the humor that at one point seemed so original and funny is really beginning to grind on me.

Another thing, while a lot of the actors involved in his works are very funny/talented, I'm tired of seeing the same cast over and over in different roles but playing essentially the same character.

Another issue I had with this film was the story in general. While it started off as a cheech and chong type of stoner comedy, by the end it had evolved into a hot fuzz-style action/parody film (yet nowhere near as good as that film's action portions).

I don't know if it was all the hype, or just the Apatow gold beginning to wain, but this film just really didn't impress me much.

Don't get me wrong, when it was funny, it was very funny. It just seemed like it ran out of steam after a bit.

i just got back from seeing Pineapple Express. I loved it. I thought it was funny. Franco and Rogen worked very well off each other. Gary Cole... he was Gary Cole haha. The stuf with Red was freakin hilarious. The fight scenes were ridiculous, but fit very well with the film.

If you're a fan of Rogen/Apatow/Franco go see the film you'll enjoy it.

I liked it. I thought it was a funny throwback to '80s action buddy comedies (the absurd plot, the ridiculous action scenes). I also liked that they kind of acknowledged the fact that it's a movie ("This is your moment of redemption!") Danny R. McBride as Red was very funny too. It was as if his character from All The Real Girls moved to LA and became a wannabe gangster of sorts.

Just got back from seeing it. Liked it a bunch but didn't love it. 8/10.

There has been a pattern forming for an Apatow & co film. It's not a stale formula yet, but it could go there very easily. They keep mixing it up enough to keep it working. All the action in this one helps.

I actually didn't feel like I was seeing the same faces again this time around, James Franco and Danny McBride were notable additions. And I actually missed regulars like Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd, etc.

Director David Gordon Green added a bit more of an indie feel to the mix as well, thought he was a smart addition.

seen it twice, love it. Rogen is amazing on screen with ability to keep things engaging and entertaining. Craig Roberson Was funny as hell. "I look like the Hamburglar or the Elephant Man!"

David Gordon Green (represent my native NCSA filmmaker) Was a great addition as well.

Overall great acting and writing and direction and comedy set ups!

When Franco comes running into the barn and yells "F*** tha police!!" I about lost it.

I was a bit surprised at the amount of gore in it, the part with the ear was great though. As was the shotgun to the dead guys foot. This was def more than a stoner comedy (thinking Half-Baked here) as the action element really seemed to take it to a different level. I dug it.

"Has anyone seen my BIGGER knife?" hahaha

i thought it was really funny. i'm a little surprised there aren't more comments on here about it. :)
