Pimp my Ride(upgrade advise for a power pc g5)

Hey guys and gals,

My buddy is moving so I bought his old G5 off him for a decent price. I know I'm so behind, the fact that the Intels are so much faster and better, but was wondering what I could do to optimize this computer to make it as good of an editing machine as possible.

It's a Dual 2ghz Power PC G5. 5.5 GB DDR2 Ram. NVIDIA GeForce 6600LE Graphics Card.

What if anything could/should I do to make it the best it can be for editing?

Also, I'm running Tiger and Final Cut 5.0.4. Should I bother upgrading the OS and or Final Cut to FCP6 or is it a waste running it on this cpu?

Thanks.

I have the same computer running the same OS on less RAM. I also am running the latest version of FCP and a bunch of other programs and I edit HD footage from my HVX just fine.

Render times are not that bad and After Effects performs pretty good as well.

It's and older computer and depending on what you want to do with it, what you have is fine. I would not sink a lot of money into it but if you got it real cheap, just run with it until you want to spend the money.
