Hey Zoom! Nice touch with the Pilgrims hat! By the way, in Canada, do you guys celebrate Thanksgiving? And if you do, what specifically are you celebrating?

Yes, indeed, we celebrate Thanksgiving the second Monday in October. The reasoning behind it is that, owing to our frigid temperatures from November to May, Canadians have great difficulty travelling to reach loved ones across this vast land of ours.

Our highways undergo a massive permafrost, and no amount of salt can penetrate the dense ice. This means that driving is incredibly treacherous - many lives have been lost attempting to get to airports.

As if this weren't enough, we also have a massive caribou migration that interferes with civilian movement. It starts in Vancouver, with a massive trek to Labrador, our twelfth state.

If we were all south of the 49th parallel, we wouldn't have these problems. You don't know how lucky you are.

Oh, Canaduh!!!!!

Good Reporting Monk.
The caribou migration has been a big issue for us here in the BC Interior. Ironically the migration has had a big effect on cable and telecommunications networks here.
I understand some smartass put tinfoil on the caribou's antlers and it is screwing up the illegal US satellite systems owned by some non-conforming CRTC terrorists.

It is causing much grief for the Oprah fans.

Re: Pilrgim hat.

Caribous take the trans-canada highway to migrate. Hey!  My car got run over by a heard of caribou last year while trying to go to work. I was really affraid for my life!!!  :o

Could be the aftershave/cologne you were wearing. Hope it wasn't mating season. ???

Re: Pilrgim hat.

Oh No! :o I used an aftershave called HEAT! ::) Maybe that was it?? Oh my!!! And thank god I was in my car, and all the doors were locked. I shudder to think what might have happened in the back seat of my car! :-[ :-[ :-[

Re: Pilrgim hat.

don't laugh.. about 10 years ago I almost ran over a buffalo on the highway.. err make that a buffalo almost ran me over.

Re: Pilrgim hat.

About 10 years ago, this chick (who I ddn't know except that we were driving on the same road) and I were racing up a long stretch of road called WILD CAT CANYON. IT winds into an INDIAN reservation and BAM! She hit a cow. KNocked the cow over, cow got up and ran away.

Crazy.

I never did catch her name.

Re: Pilrgim hat.

I used to live in an area that had the highest rate of animal vehicle accidents in Canada. Nights were deadly,
and thank god for the F-150 with the grill.

Add a whole new meaning to "Dear in the Headlights".

Drive safe.
