Picture lagging behind audio - help

Hi,

First, I apologize if this is covered somewhere else. If so, please just forward me the link. But I couldn't seem to find it searching.

Here is my problem:
I have a clip imported from a DVX100b info FCP 6.0. The woman who shot it for me told me it was shot at 24p. But when I imported it, the picture lagged behind the audio by about 4-5 seconds. I'm guessing it's imported at the wrong frame rate. But I don't have the tape to try it again.

Can I somehow readjust the frame rate of the imported clip? Or the time line?

Right now, all I'm trying to figure out is how to get the audio and picture to sync up!

Thanks in advance for any help!

im sure theres a better way then this but this will work. Do apple L to unlink the video and audio then just move the audio around till your happy with it. Then click apple L again to stick it back together.

Is it off the entire tape or does it get worse as the tape goes along?

And how are you monitoring the audio? Following video? What's the setup?

Sorry, should've included that, I know.

At this time, I'm just watching (and listening) on the computer - no fancy audio outputs...yet!
:)

My computer is a MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz 4G Ram, OS 10.5

And yes, I guess I could do it the "old fashioned way" and just move it. I guess I just keep thinking there must be something I did...or did NOT do to make it this way.

Considering other things I've "magically" touched...I figure it's just me!

Ok... shot 24p...

How did you import it? What was your capture setting? Did you capture in 24fps?

If you did, you'll need the tape back!!

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I think she said it was 24p. But you're right that I might've imported it 24fps.

Did I capture it incorrectly?

Sorry if this is really newbish...
:embarasse

Is there no way to change it now?

There is no way to change it.

24p is 29.97 on the tape and should be left that way when capturing.

You need that tape back.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try Lairhair's advice in the meantime.

I'm hoping to get one of Noah's instructional DVDs so hopefully in the future, I'll be a little more in the know!!

Thanks for everyone's help!
