Picture is completely dark with M2

Hi,
I just recently bought the Redrock M2 and hooked it up to my HVX-200 (with the hard mount kit). After attaching a few different Nikon lenses up to it I turned on my lights to shoot some test shots. I had about 1500 watts of lights pointed directly at one source along with reflectors. While shooting it I noticed that on the monitor it looked only moderatley lit. After transfering the footage to my comoputer all of it looked black expet for when the lights were shown in the shot. I had the iris all of the way open with a shutter speed of 1/48 (1080i 24p). What am I doing wrong? Prior to putting on the adapter I was getting great footage.

The iris dial (behind the AWB button) is adjusted all the way to 'Open'. As far as the lense goes I just have it set to 28mm and see no other buttons or anything to adjust fstops. And the shutter speed is 1/24 (no 1/48 as I stated earlier).

Just to let everyone know, I am completely new to photography using lenses like these; I come from a writing/acting background. I've tried to do research on these forums and Google as well and I think I'm making the settings right but there's obviously something I'm forgetting/don't know about.

Ryan, I'm wondering if you're using DX lenses there? Can you reply with the model number of that lens, and the writing on the lens face?

If you're using a digital lens, it may not have a manual aperture ring, and if it's a DX format lens, not really what you want for adapter use. DX format is not full frame SLR (24x36mm) but much smaller to match Nikon's smaller CCD formats.

Cheers,
Dennis

What kind of lens is it exactly? From what you're describing, I think Dennis is on the right track.

The one I am testing right now is the Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 G. I am glad you mentioned that because one of the other lense I have been trying to test is a Nikkor DX model so I guess that one would be out of the question.
