Well here are some pics I snapped with my new D40. I am very happy with it. Still learning how to use it and always trying to find a better composition.

My niece/goddaughter, Isabelle.

My grandfather in the hospital. This is an emotional picture for me and I debated whether or not I should have taken it, much less share it.

Those are some very strong images. Heavy impact except for the niece shot. I have some shots of my grandmother hours before she died from 4 years ago and just found them this month. I felt apprehensive like you but know I'm thankful that I took the shots.
Great camera and very good eye there.

Thank you for the pics. The one of your grandfather is just super impactful... just an amazing photo... wow

I work with Nikon gear all day, I have too many of em, but that D40 is a sweet camera. Your shots illustrate that.

Did you use auto white balance on the shots with dim light?

i got a D50 and i often get redish pixels in pics with dim light and ive been unable
to figure out why. I see you have the same 'problem' and they make the image look grainy and overall bad quality.

Anyone know if this is this just a problem with the lower end Nikon cams?
