Photoshop refuses to screen capture

Not sure if anyone's had this problem before.
I've done screen captures many times using photoshop CS3 (and other versions) but whenever I try to screen capture a frame grab from a HD video clip (from Edius or from any standalone player like QuickTime) I get a black screen where the frame grab is supposed to be. Everything else is captured (player controls, taskbar, background wallpaper, etc.) except for the bit that really matters! I've adjusted my screen resolution to no avail, it just won't screen capture.

I think that's pretty standard for the way screen captures work. Quicktime Pro can export a single frame. VLC (which is free) can do screencaps if it can open your file. If you need it to look like a screencap of the whole computer monitor, just paste that export into the files you already have.

I'm working with uncompressed MXF files in Edius. VLC and QuickTime won't touch them.
Why won't the "Print Screen" button work with HD clips?
