Ive had this problem for sometime now. Im working with photoshop 7. Many of my .psd files will open but then the files wont save after further modifications. Ill only have to 'save as' with a different file name if i want to save the editing ive done to the pic.

Also after even closing PS7 i cant delete these files or rename them. The message i get is "Error Deleting File Or Folder (Cannon delete DSC_008. It is being used by another person or program, close any prgrams that might be using the file and try again)"

What can i do. I know this is a windows error. But this happens only in PS7 and its files. It never ocurs with other files like my vegas projects and footage etc. Hence i thought ill post this to see if any of you PS users have faced this and if theres any likely solution.

Thanks

PS : Am aware of unlock.exe just needed to see if there was a starightforward permanant solution to this problem.

I had a similar problem with an earlier version of photoshop years ago. The problem was something weird like it wouldn't save because the file was open in another application while it was also open in Photoshop. I was on a mac though so maybe that's not the same problem at all.

Following may need to check:
As zuckerpunch said: check no other app. have this file open
Another: Check that the directory on where the .psd files are, are not permissions limited (so uncheck read only and grant full edit control to your user, or users)
