I have 24PA footage that I want to incorporate with some photos. Will this work out okay? I have v2.0 and was mainly wondering what any cons to doing this would be.

yes, i know, but thought that this topic would be covered more extensively in this forum considering the fact that I realized it is more particular to the NLE that you are using.

Here are the posts again they still apply

When working on a picture montage, there is the ability to easily edit in whatever frame rate we want, unless there is video incorporated. Then comes the question of what is the best frame rate to work with. Unless I am mistaken the decision is simpler than it seems. There are really only two options. interlaced or progressive or rather 30p or 60i to be more precise . Obviously these are handled relatively the same throughout the editing but which one gives a better look. with 60i you are able to achieve faster motion more smoothly, for quick transitions this seems to be ideal. 30P might give you issues with trying to create a high motion montage but you also get the progressive feel of motion while panning a picture from left to right ect. One downside I can see with 60i is if your pictures are overly sharp and show anti-aliasing. If this occurs and is not treated properly by adding a directional blur of some sort, than the areas that are stair stepping or experiencing this problem are much more apparent and begin to role (this happens a lot in peoples eyes from my experience) These days when a lot of people are caught up in 24p (myself included) we almost have are default timeline set to 24p but this is just something to think about before starting to edit an video. 24p isnt going to look any different than 30p with stills except give you less frames a second to work with. So unless you are editing a two hour long picture montage and would like to make it space saving for DVD or intend and doing a film-out of pictures consider other options.

as mentioned in my earlier post it is doable but if you intend on working in a 24p enviorment rather than conforming your 24pa footage to 29.97 interlaced by adding the pulldown you will be limited in how much motion you will be able to achieve with you photos. Cuts are fine but if you trying to pan the photos fast enough or add a fast enough transition than you can easily run into issues in any progressive enviornment wether it be 24p or 30p (60p would be the equivelent to 60i and would be fine but there are no decks to playa video clip at 60p unless its inteded for stricly pc playback)
