photos blurry when importing to fcp

i have scanned a number of photos at 300dpi and saved them as jpgs, then imported them to fcp. when dragged to the timeline and played, they lose some clarity and are slightly blurred. when i stop the play head on the timeline, they clear up. play again and they blur slightly.

i am getting no indication of rendering necessity.

anyone know what is going on and how i can resolve this?

thanks

Carl,

I had this problem a year ago when I created a slideshow on FCP. I upped the size of the photos and saved them as a photoshop file. If I remember correctly they were still blurry in FC, but save it as a full quality quicktime and view it that way to see if it's still blurry. This will tell you if it will be blurry on your final output.

change your codec to animation or some non-DV compression (or none/uncompressed). The viewer is always semi-low rez (check the pulldown menu labelled RT to up the quality if it's defaulted to low). DV/DVCPro is not kind to photos, nor is any NTSC. Once you export to QT, check the "high quality" button if you have to stay in those codecs.
