Photos and compositing

Hi all

This evening, as I was getting really bored, I decided to take a photo and then make a photo composite to look like a film frame. So I headed to my gear room and setup some lights. After taking the photo I rotoscoped it and put it against a scifi background and added some effects.

camera used Nikon D40

the only reason you stand out as clearly not part of the scene is the fact that you are keyed from offscreen to the left when clearly the brightest and most luminescent object in the scene is the moon thing, which is behind you. If you kicked the rim up a lot more, killed the key on your front and only let a soft glow from the saber illuminate you face it would be a lot more believable.

Still, cool work. I love anything with lightsabers in it, heh.

Thnaks for the comments.

Which of the two is better?

Now to really blend them, just add a hair of blur to the background, especially the moon, and the tower, and add a noise (film grain) layer over the whole image to make the two elements seem like one. Good work!

Great, I'll give it a try. Then I will have a frame of a scifi film (pity its just a frame:embarasse)
