I did this photo montage in after effects for my wedding. I had a little time off work and I didnt want the normal cheesy video so I decided to try to come up with something cool. I really like what I came up with. This was done entirely in after effects/ Let me know what you think.

This is just a few sections from the full piece.

Definitely better than the average "Slide Show" Montage. My only suggestion would be to have a little more motion from the pictures. I realize they are already in 3d space and you are moving the camera around them or moving the pictures in to frame but the pictures are perfectly still when they being featured. I find I get the best reactions with a little ken burns effect mixed with some layering in Photoshop. But what separates them from a basic motionless montage is.. well the motion. When the perspective changes from a zoom or a pan it is more like a movie than a picture so the interest level rises.

Here is one I posted a few years back. It is the middle song from a project I did for my wife. This was done in Premiere Elements 3 before I upgraded to the CS4 Master Collection. I used the heck out of photoshop though. It isn't the best quality since I had to pull it from the VOB files from the DVD but you will see what I mean.

You did a great job utilizing the 3d space and moving the camera around and bringing in new elements to the frame. But some subtle continuous motion might add some drama to it.

All in all good work.

MB, what did you do for the pictures flipping out? Did you individually rotate them or use an effect like the spinning newspaper thing?

It was pretty simple. Just keyframe the picture off screen. Then move forward in time, move the picture on screen to where you want it to stop and rotate the picture then keyframe it again. The right click the end key frame and choose easy ease in. That makes it look like its slowing down.
