Hey guys!

Do you think it is a good idea to use my phone as a monitor on DSLR gimbal? I know dedicated monitors have advantages however my phone is always in my pocket and want to save some cash at the beginning.

I live in Florida so sun is very strong. Is the phone brightness strong enough during the day with phone/monitor shade attached?

Thanks!

Not to sound like a smart ass, but what does always having your phone with you have to do with anything? Are you telling me you will remember to grab your camera and grab your gimbal, but somehow the monitor will be forgotten? Use a dedicated monitor designed to do what you need and keep all the gear together as a package.

“and want to save some cash at the beginning.”

Why not save some money? Try it, if it’s not working plunk down the money for a monitor.

But if he's using his cell phone as a monitor, how is he going to take selfies of himself while he's working to post on social media? If no one see's a picture of you with your camera on FB or Insta, were you really working? I mean, come on. The pic for Insta is the real payment, not the money. The kids today don't need money, just Instagram pictures. They're going to be the new bitcoin.

I think hes just saying the phone is something he always has so its not another piece of gear to haul around (lighter package/less crap).
