Went today to watch Philomena' and boy, was I pleasantly surprised. I found the cinematography beautiful throughout the film. It was primarily shot on Alexa, but some scenes were 8mm, super 16, and vhs tape. It was easy to tell what was what and why they used each specific camera for the scene. This was the first film I've watched in recent memory where I walked away feeling like I got my money's worth based on the cinematography alone. I felt the soundtrack and scoring fell way short though. It wasn't so much that I didn't like it as I felt it could have made more of an emotional impact had they chose a different composer, and I like Alexandre Desplat, Anyone else enjoy the film as much as I did?
