So guys what do you think? I am a mentalist and absolutely love magic. Some of the acts are okay, but all in all, I have not been absolutely destroyed yet. I enjoy it though. I respect Criss Angel and David Blaine for making Magic more accessible to America again, and I think this show helps people think about illusions and magic again as well. All in all...could be better, but I like it.

I'm a big fan of magic myself - but I was really dissapointed with this show.
Honestly I can't put my finger on what the problem is, but it's just not very exciting to watch. Uri Geller isn't helping things either.
I've always had an issue with him.

Maybe its just inherent in the format of the show, the fact that we're jumping from one person to the next - and it seems like so much of magic is building a report between the performer and the audience.... its hard to get into when we're going between magicians so quickly.

Let me start by saying I LOVE magic. I always have ever since I was a kid. I used to learn and collect magic tricks but never had the patience or desire frankly to make it anymore than an occasional hobby.

Now, I haven't seen this show, so I can't comment on it. However, I have seen Chriss Angels show. His illusions are creative and very entertaining. Having said that, when I used to watch his show, I couldn't help but feel like he is not only using plants, but that his entire audience are plants. Adding to that, I can't help but think that many of his tricks are filmed with post-production in mind...i.e....he floats from building to building with cables in full view because they can delete them in post. I feel this way because some of his tricks are beyond tricks. They are a physical impossibility. I've seen him jump from one spot to the top of a building in a millisecond. I'm not a magic newb. Perhaps I am being fooled but I don't always think so. I really think his show is dependent upon what can be done in an editing bay.

Of course, thats my opinion. I hope I am wrong. But, if I'm not...that is not entertainment. Thats a crime on the art form.
