PhaRREL wIlliams 24 hour video

I like it (the 4 min video), and the concept of a 24 video, too.
Everybody, including all of the dancing extras get their own entire take of the song, what's not to like?

The shallow DOF/blurring BG is a bit much (blurring trademarked products and signs?), and it seems too soft at many points and blown out in the day (the "Happy"-ness of bright exteriors?), but so what???

You don't like-
The 24 hour video (because you watched all of it?)
The idea of a 24 hour long music video?
The 4 minute music video?
The photography?
The concept?
The execution?
You feel compelled to play the contrarian here?
or what?

You like the song, but why not the video?

I left the song and video smiling, and yes, "Happy"...
Forget viral, it made me happy, so I consider it a success. I got no time for Scrooges here...
(now excuse me while I click on the "happy" emoticon...)

I didn't say I disliked it, just that 24 hours of the same song doesn't appeal to me. There is no reason I would go, oh wow, 24 hours of the same song!, and in fact I looked because it's a novelty, but after scanning through the 24 hours in about a minute, I didn't see anything to make me want to look into it further.

I can't find the article now but I read it was shot on an arri and it's soft in spots because they did everything, or almost everything, on a steady cam and in only one take, and shot all 24 hours in 11 days, so it was kinda run and gun.

I don't get it. I truly don't. It seems like more of a gimmick (yes, a "novelty") to me than anything else and I have no interest in watching any of it (beyond the 30 seconds I did watch).

If a recording artist came to me and proposed such a thing, I would only be able to reply - "Why?"

I believe this is yet another case of the novelty aspect of the project superseding the actual content. Remember the first Instagram music video? I've heard about it but I haven't actually seen it.

+1

If I'm missing something groundbreaking, it's only because those initial 30 seconds bored the crap out of me. (Except for the Minions!)
Who would honestly have time to watch a 24 hour video? Especially in 2013?

Haters.

It's an ambitious thing to undertake something of this scale. Dig around on the site http://24hoursofhappy.com and you'll see that it's actually an interesting art project if you take it as a whole. Skip around, and you'll see that the interface that they built for it is pretty damn impressive too. Not my favorite song and the lost focus is a little annoying, but overall I'm really impressed that they pulled this off and I enjoyed spending some time exploring the video.

DITTO!!

The problem with some folks is that they just won't give it a chance. I think I've managed to scroll thru a lot of the videos. Matter of fact it won't be so difficult to mash up a lot of them in your own NLE and make a brand new video from scratch. I'm sure someone is doing that as we speak. Very Cool Concept.

I'd be insulted if it wasn't true.

It's tough to grow old and lose touch with what's cool. (do you kids still use the word 'cool?')
If I think it's stupid, they're probably doing something right.
