Phantom Power w/ dvx100b's battery

6's and 9's - essentially the same mic. The -2 is a bit longer to make room for the battery and that might make it a little more likely to intrude into the edge of your frame during wide shots if camera mounted. The -1 will always need a source of phantom, the -2 gives you flexibility to use it with non-phantom supplying devices.

Now would the NTG-2 have any differences when it is ran on the battery vs. phantom power?? I too am looking into this mic. Thanks.

yep it would sound worse then it with phantom

would my dvx be okay running the -1 off of the cam's battery? How would I know if the battery died on the -2?

you dont run the ntg -2 with internal battery
you dont buy ntg 2 as it waist of money as well
