Phantom footage becomes brighter when I apply a speed change - Why?

Editing lots of speed ramping footage shot on the phantom @ 400fps and 50fps. When I apply a speed ramp the footage gets brighter. Any idea why this is happening and how I can prevent it?

It is most likely only in the preview of FCP. Render out a shot and check. If that's still happening in the output I'd be surprised...

Nope, didn't work. I exported it at full res and played it in quicktime on osx and still is brighter during speed ramps. Any other suggestions?

How did you get the phantom footage into FCP in the first place? Is it RAW or ProRes conversions and at what resolution?

Tiff files to an image sequence (movs), then to pro res 422 Hq ( these are my online files) and then those to pro res 422 for offline edit.

I worked it out though. In sequence settings under render control, yuv 10 bit was ticked rather than RGB. What are these settings for any way? I'm sure there's more to it than just using certain modes for different effects.
