phantom 48v and plug in power

Hi, i have a question concerning phantom power and plug in power.

I take the exemple of the rode lavalier.
If i connect the lavalier with XLR, it requires 48V of phantom power to work.
If i connect the lavalier with 1/8, it only requires 1V.

XLR needs more power (48) compare to 1/8 (only 1V)

Is it for this reason that you obtain better quality with XLR ?
Does the number of volts change anything?

Is there any other reason why XLR is better than 1/8

Thanks in advance,
Julien

The XLR adapter only converts the power from 48v down to 1v. Most pro cameras don't have plug-in power, they only supply phantom, so you need to use that power for your lavs. No difference in audio quality. It's just versatility.
