I know two threads in the Café in one day is more than enough but I just read this on www.RED.com. Didn't check if it was on REDUSER.com or not.

Peter Jackson shoots RED footage for NAB presentation

Academy Award winning director Peter Jackson ("Lord of the Rings Trilogy" and King Kong") volunteered to shoot 4K footage for RED to use at NAB 2007. What started out as a test session quickly turned into a movie. Peter and his team shot RED Alpha prototypes, "Boris" and "Natasha", for 2 days in New Zealand just two weeks before the opening of NAB. All footage was shot using RED's proprietary REDCODE RAW 4K codec and recorded to RED DRIVES.

Peter Jackson being one of my favorite directors shoots RED footage? I want to see that. I wonder if RED could become his camera for the Halo movie / video game project.

This seems pretty cool.

Yes, saw it today. It's a 12-minute film; the line to get in was around the booth, it takes an hour to get through. It's not "demo footage", it's a war drama. I sat up front, and basically Red has delivered absolutely everything they said they would.

stop teasing......... Whats this i hear about a Mini Red? Answers barry, answers!!!!!

I saw it today, too. It was incredible.

Man. This is actually pretty crazy considering introduction to the public to actual delivery time. They DELIVERED and so hard that I'm actually feeling the shocks, and I ain't nowhere near purchasing one.

In how short-a-time did they garner support from a major player like APPLE? I mean, look at Apple's site: RED is actually sitting there as a portion of the website. amazing man...

I feel bad for whoever thought they were gonna be the first to shoot narrative footage on the camera though. Peter Jackson took the food right outta their mouths.

You now know everything we all know about the mini Red. i.e., they said "we're gonna make a mini Red." That's pretty much the end of details. I tried to pry for more info, and they said "hey, it's coming from us, so you pretty much know what to expect" or something like that.

And yes, Apple was actually in the Red booth demonstrating the integration with Red.

Good news (as it should be expected from the RED team)... The peter jackson movie will be available for download through RED's site. No time slot, but I'd expect sooner than later with how fast they've been getting their stuff up.

im suprised this isnt on youtube yet...you would think there would be all kinds of cell phone cameras covering it...would be terrible quality...but still...id watch it...

I read over at RedUser.net that Jim said something along the line of "if we see a cell phone pop up, we will stop you after the screening and beat the s*** out of you..."

Pretty kick ass.

EDIT: Music has to be re-scored before the video can be posted.

The 2 selling points for me were the resolution and the latitude. I spent the whole movie looking for details in shadows and highlights It was amazing.

As for Jim's story, yeah he did say that. I got in on the second day and he told us (tongue in cheek) That someone tried to record it the previous day and they dragged him out, beat the snot out of him and broke his camera in half. Cool guy.

All I have to say is DAYM! The footage looked just awsome. I was sold the moment I saw the opening.

Jim, I think you were sitting in fornt of us.

Yes, the footage and the film in general were very impressive. I've never seen 4K projection before, and I must say, PJ's film was a very nice introduction to the format.

It was hard not to say "holy $#*!" repeatedly. Well done, Red and PJ.
