Personal velocity, Nine lives, short films to feature films

I just want to know what you guys think about this matter.

I've seen these movies many times and personally I like the style. A sequence of vignettes/short stories helping make an 80 min. feature. Another good example is THE DEAD GIRL.

I mean do you really appreciate movies done this way or do you prefer the normal way where a single story is told during the entire movie.

I've heard things like; directors who make features using short stories are basically lazy artists. I don't think I agreed with this. I'm working on a feature script that tells a series of short stories making it a whole.

what's your thought?

if it's a good movie, it's a good movie. robert altman's "short cuts" comes to mind.

They are plenty of movies that are basically several shorts strung together. Most of the mid 90's indie scene consisted of these movies; 'Twenty Dollars', Pulp Fiction, '4 Rooms' and a bunch of others I can't think of right now.
