Personal DVD Player as a Monitor???

The dvd player has the 1/8th size adapter for video on the back. I hooked that up to the camera and nothing came up on the screen. I saw that the DVX RCA plugs note "in/out." Is there some way to differintiate between video going in or out or is the S-video the connection to use in this situation? Thanks

Most of the portable DVD players have a small dip switch you change to convert that 1/8" plug between an input (for camera use) and and output (for viewing the DVD on an external monitor.) Check and see if your's has a switch.

I have it switched to "in." Now that I think about it, I haven't tried it with my other cam. I'll see if it's the monitor or the DVX. Thanks S Dog

Ive used my portable dvd player on a shoot once but I only used it once or twice. I don't really rely on it because its not accurate. I just use it to get me in the ball park of what it is I want.
