perfect boom mic

I am in need of a good microphone setup. I shoot alot of news stories on location, documentaries, and live events. I need something that can be attached to the camera as well as a boom pole. Does anyone have an suggestions? I dont have the money for a Synheizer.
 
Do you have any footage I could check with that mic used. I was going to buy the same mic, but I was looking to here a sample before I did.
