Pentax lenses on Letus FE

Has anyone ever used Pentax (k mount or m42 mount) lenses on the Letus FE? Is there a mount available for this or would one have to use an adapter on the nikon/canon mount.

I have some M42 Footage coming up really soon from Letus Extreme + M42 mount. I am not sure if the LetusFE has an m42 mount.

I use Super Takumar and Vivitar lenses and I think they're pretty great for the price.

SMC Pentax lenses are supposed to be really nice. For the adapter crowd, however, we have to find the fastest glass we can at all focal lengths so that we can use 'em. Or, at least if you're using a vibrating GG adapter. This is why I have yet to convert completely over from Nikon mount lenses. Really hard to get the best M42 glass within certain brandings.

Here's a still -- HVX200@1/8ND + F5.6 - LetusEx - Super Takumar SMC 50/1.4 @ F4

If it seems soft it's because I dial my detail down to -2. I'm getting into the practice of leaving it there because when projecting it looks much better than over-sharpened footage. Although I wouldn't dial any lower than -2 when using Cine-V. Preferred range is -2 to 0.

It doesn't, but you can get there by using the Canon mount, and an M42->Canon adapter. I've used that to mount M42 lenses on an FE.

Yes, BUT: a little warning. Pentax changed the mount slightly for the SMC lenses. I found this out the hard way when I put an SMC Takumar on a Krasnogorsk K-3; that was a one-way trip because it was actually impossible to remove the lens, I ended up having to destroy the lens to get it off. So be careful with SMC Takumars. Might work fine, might not.

Oh, no, you're right! I forgot to mention this. I had to dismantle the 50mm SMC Super Takumar to remove the piece inside so that it worked with the Adapter.

I got some footage coming up!

Definitely get an EOS mount for your adapter if you plan on using M42 adapters as you will get infiinty focus and everything. The same is not true for Nikon.

Barry,

How sturdy was it when you connected the m42 lenses via adapter to the canon mount on the Letus? Did everything lock?

The SMC Takumar lenses have incredible optics. In my opinion they are the best lenses of that time period, even better than Zeiss. And they still hold up to the sharpness of more modern lenses while retaining a smoother bokeh.
