Pelican-style case for less

Just passing this on... Pelican cases are great, if a little pricey. I've got a few. For this teleprompter I just got, I needed a case, something around the size of a Pelican 1550, which is also a popular size for use as a camera case for the DVX.

At Cases4Less.com they had the Pelican 1550 for about $100. But they also listed something called the Dosko Sport (Extra Large), same size, for $65. I figured I'd try it.

It's very similar to a Pelican -- same style of bulletproof construction, same style of O-ring waterproof seal, and same pick 'n' pluck foam. The only real difference was the latch design, and this thing latches just as securely as Pelicans, just a different design.

Shipping was dirt-cheap ($7 I think) and nearly instantaneous, as always -- Cases4Less is a great seller!

In short, if you want a Pelican 1550 but want to save about 35% off, consider the Dosko Sport Extra Large from Cases4Less.com.

Re: Pelican-style case for less

Doskocil is a well known company, having its roots in the manufacture of firearms cases which are readily available at K-Mart and such.

I have a case that I keep a pair of stuido mics in which is made by them. Very good quality.

Re: Pelican-style case for less

I have a Doskocil for my DVX that I bought at The Sports Authority for $50. It has worked great for me so far and holds my camera, 4 batteries, 2 chargers, 5 tapes, wide angle lens, one filter, shotgun mic, mic cable and sun shade. Great buy!!

Absolutely! They were designed for firearms.

Re: Pelican-style case for less

Yeah, there are locking holes on each side of the lid... I really don't see a drawback yet -- looks to be every bit as functional as the Pelican, but for 1/3 less.

Re: Pelican-style case for less

Great find Barry, just wondering if the large would work as well to fit the DVX?

They make 'em big enough. The one I keep my mics, shock mounts, mic preamp, sound pressure meter, and signal generator in certainly is.
