"Pelican pluckers"

Hey,
For all of you 'pelican case' owners....How did you go about 'plucking' out the foam? Did you trace? I'm getting my 1550 this week and I want to make sure I set my case up right, lol. Thanks...

I didn't. But I should have! It turned out okay but it could have been neater. I'm not sure I love the pick and pluck. The pieces around the edge of where the camera goes in get bent inwards sometimes. I think I'm going to have to glue those pieces together.

I just set my cam and other stuff on there and plucked, then put back on to check etc... I also used a razer to custom cut the bottom layer so I would not have to pluck it all the way out.

I'm thinking I might have to do that also.

Place camera on unplucked foam.

Place toothpicks at appropiate edges of camera.

Remove camera.

Pluck foam.

Drink beer.

The same ... but different

The same ... but different

Hey Guys... Good morning from deep in the South...!!!

I did exactly as described above... (well, except for maybe the beer part)...
and it turned out really well. After a year of pretty regular use, it don't look so good anymore... still works fine ... but not as sharp and clean cut as before. The small foam pieces that remain after plucking, seem to rip off easily... hundreds of them...LOL.

I know to expect normal wear, but wouldn't a solid piece of foam (as opposed
to the "plucking" out type) last longer...???

Anyone else with this observation...???

Does anyone make a "pre-cut" piece that fits the DVX and/or a particular
size (Pelican) case...???

Thanks...

There's always the ghetto way of just pushing your camera down into the foam. You should get a clean outline of the cam and then just pluck from there.

I just placed my cam and others on top, pushed down around the edges to get it started removed cam and pulled it out. Mine after regular use looks like new almost. I have a 1650 so my acces. arent to close together.. between each item you intend to place in there I would leave two rows of pluck foam.

Then drink a beer or ten.

Forget the pluck stuff, buy a divider set and organizer lid for the case. It's the
only way to go. I'm using the pluck to package my ebay sells.

I just ordered my 1520 because I've researched it on this site and it's just small enough to take on an airplane as a carry-on.

Look forward to plucking soon. Thanks to whoever plugged cases4less as well. Got it for a great price.

I ordered the divider set and organizer lid from theboxstore.com on ebay. You
can also buy it on B&H I think, so wish I had bought the entire package at
B&H to begin with, oh well.

when closed, there is some pressure on the handle, and perhaps the onboard mic. Is this normal/ok?

You may have to 'pluck' a little deeper. So far, I love mine! Will be put to use this weekend.
I went all the way through the foam. I basically copied the zacuto rental pic as far as arrangement, but realized that I had a smaller case lol. It works, it's just a bit tight. I am a tad bit worried about if the on-board mic is taking some strain though...

Also, I intentionally left a large amount of space, I'm hoping there will be enough to carve out some for my m2 adapter.
