Pearl Harbor

I have searched threads about this film, but I have found nothing. It is extremely surprising for me. I think it is a great film with beautiful shots. I saw it again yesterday, and it is still very good.

nobody has been interested in it for years?

This film has come up in some other threads in good and bad light.

I liked it. It's a fun movie and the Attack sequence alone is worth my money. Bay has still yet to do anything that makes me a fan of his work specifically (Films like Bad boys 1 and 2 and The Rock did NOTHING for me) but Pearl Harbor is probably his most serious film to date.

Of course now he;s gonna do the TRANSFORMERS. Whatever.

Popcorn fun and beautiful at that. People may bash it as much as they want, but Bay has yet to make anything that doesn't look great. Just don't dig into it too deep. And, surf, apparently some people have been interested in it, if it made $450+ mil in theaters and over $100mil on video.

My grandpa was there so when it came out I talked to quite a few pearl harbor survivors. They said It was quite realistic except a few things. Ive heard a lot of stories from them. One of my favorites was a few days before it happend this guy just got a brand new Buick. He was stationed on land so that sunday when he woke up from the bombs, the only thing he could think about was his new car so he got up and drove his car to the baseball field thinking it would be the safest place to put it. But what he didnt know was that the japanese thought they had ammo stored under the baseball field. He was still upset about it.

This is the film that would win my award for "Best trailer to the worst movie" once I get my award ceremony set up...

I heard that someone edited the movie down to 2 hours and took out the whole love story between the girl and josh. That probably would have made it better for me. I think this version was on the internet a while back. I liked the action but it was just too long of a love story for me.

Yes there is many movies I wanted to cut down myself. Paerl Harbor is one of them. The film is to long. You could establish the love story much faster.

The Phantom menace is the other film I want to cut down.

Totally!!! What a freaking amazing trailer this film had!!! It was waaayyyyy better than the movie. The first hour was just painful... the actual attack was beautifully shot, though.

I'm sure that Barry Green could shoot a turd beautifully... but that would still make it a turd.

The trailer to this movie gave me chills, it was massive, powerful, and instilled this sense of impending doom. The movie to this trailer gave me aches, pains, and left me with a sense of wanting to beat a 13 year old theatre attendent to a bloody pulp for taking my $8.

Couldn't have summed it up better if I tried.

I would have paid the $8 for just the trailer and left it at that.

What bothered me, aside from how goodf the trailer was and how not good the movie was, was that the men and women that died there derrved a better movie.

personally i like and dislike this movie.. yeah its got some nice shots and all but there's something that doesnt sit right with me about this movie... not one of bay's best work

The Rock!

Perfect action movie. Story, cast, visuals, score - just plain perfect.

Island comes really close, but The Rock is just an all-time favourite no matter what Bay does in future.

I like The Rock, but would have to rank Armageddon above it. I loved the "over-the-topness" of the ad campaigns, and the film itself for that matter. The whole fiasco reminded my of the "event" movies of the early and mid eighties...something the nineties saw relatively less of. Armageddon followed the text book formula for a summer blockbuster, and I love it for that very reason.
