PC TO MAC (G5)

Okay Heres what were running into at work

the boss just decided to switch to the PowerMac G5 in the middle of a Project and were having to bring all our PC drives to the Mac which is long and trialsome while spending $400 bux on a program the does conversion from .avi to .mov among other.

Has Anyone else had to convert LARGE amounts of footage to a Mac and if so how was it accomplished

It's a huge learning Process

Re: PC TO MAC (G5)

I think you would have to network the computers. I believe that even after you transfer the data to mov, the drive is a pc formatted drive. So not only do you have to convert the files, then you would have to transfer them.
I think what I am trying to say is why not just re capture the video with Final cut. If you have done some cutting, FCP can take most system's EDLs. This way you can save the money on the transfer software as well, and they can use it on a nice bonus for you.

Re: PC TO MAC (G5)

It'll be quicker to re-capture the footage into final cut.
You won't have to re-render the footage coming from the PC if you re-capture.

The batch list should import if you made the batch list in excel or word.
