Can I assume that a recent PC laptop, like my Sony Vaio FS660, has USB 2.0 ports that are POWERED? IE, can I buy a portable HD and know it'll run off the port? (Can't seem to search out this info anywhere on the web.)
Yes, Lacie makes a number of them, some with just USB 2, some with just FW, some with both.
Other consideration is, my laptop battery doesn't last very long as it is (about 2 hrs), and I bet powering the drive would really reduce running time.
