PC laptop min specs

Hi, I am new to video editing and needed to know what are the minimum specs on a pc laptop to do HVX200 capture and video editing. Please give details like processor, video card, ram etc. I already have a powerful pc and that is why I am not keen on switching to Mac. I need something to do work on while I am traveling and then transfer back to pc once I return from my trips. I was looking at HP laptops as they seem inexpensive, more specifically the dv8000t series. Please advise.

PS If it is any more help, I will be using Adobe premier pro 2.0

For Premiere Pro you will need to add either the RayLight software from DVFilm.com or Aspect HD from CineForm.com. The performance requirements for each will vary. If you get a dual core 2.0Ghz laptop with a 1GB of memory you will be fine -- particularly for 720p work. Upgrade the hard drive to 7200rpm, and if you get a laptop that support multiple drives, two striped 5400rpm drives will get you very good drive performance.

Just on a totally unrelated laptop issue, in case someone is browsing this thread for that kind of info, even a $400 laptop will allow you to transfer files from P2 cards to an external firewire or USB drive. I know because I own one. :)

Thanks for the info David. I am going to go with CineForm for my Adobe Premier pro 2, but which one should I get that is suitable for my needs? I am looking to capture video, is it possible to capture 720p or do I just need to copy it to the timeline? I also wish to edit video 720p. I am looking now at the acer travelmate 8200 and the HP Pavilion dv8000t, which would be more compatible with the CineForm products? Both have core duo 2Ghz, 2MB ram, but only 5400rpm single drive. You had said that two hard drives striped would have been the way to go, what do you mean by striped? I am more considering the HP pavilion DV8000t because of the muiltiple drives. Please assist, thanks!
