PC based AE wont read Mac Based QT files

I've outputted a project from my mac via the default export QT movie option for my friend to grade on his pc. Trouble is he cant open any of the QT files on his pc. Is this a known issue? He has downloaded the free QT with updates but still cant read it. I thought he may have to purchase QT pro, do you think this is the issue?

Hope someone on here can help this has become a time consuming and frustrating problem. All software utilised is legitimate.

First off, you should use the render queue and not the export QT option from the file menu. Second, what codec are you exporting in? There are a handful of codecs that are either not available on a PC or you have to download their installers separately from the normal QT download.

It was a codec issue, thanks for your reply it has solved the issue 100%. As a rlatively new FCP user with a limited grasp of the processes I just needed a prod in the right dirction sometimes. We have identified a mutually recognised codec and all is well. I very much appreciate your reply!
