Anyone who has sold using Paypal? I am selling my DVX and need to assure myself of everything being legit and protected!!!!! Buyers credit card to my bank account through Paypal and shipping Fedex. I read the bad stories about the buyer reversing the sale with credit company??????? What would be your advice on a safe sell for both parties?

Paypal will, if there is a dispute, side with the buyer. In practice - and I can only speak about what happens here in the UK is that with Paypal and a credit card involved, then there are two parties who can claw back the money. Crazy really, as you as the seller even have to pay for the privilege.

The critical factor is that you need to make sure the address you ship to is legit - so this means that if the Paypal address you're given says unconfirmed, then this person is either a Paypal 'virgin', hasn't bothered to do the authorisation check process, or really is iffy!

If you can find evidence the address is valid, and can make sure the kit gets to the right people - then the risk is lower - but like any transaction, there will always be risk of some kind.

If it helps, the most expensive Paypal transaction I've ever done was £15,000 - or around $20,000 - it was a little worrying, but worked ok for me.

If the buyer isn't happy, then they'll no doubt let you know - so my own experience is be honest, don't claim things it isn't and be prepared to refund - 7 days is good. If after 7 days, they've not complained, then that's pretty good evidence they are happy, so if paypal try to reverse the charge, you can claim you offered a refund (+ point) the customer didn't request one (+point) so it's quite possible they have used it and then complained - like a free hire, or have actually broken it, and you'll have to stand your ground.

I think we worked out to do a certified bank check. Paypal will miss out on $60 or so :)
It's nice to have the option though.

Buyers tend to be duped more than sellers, so it makes sense for decisions to usually be that way. But I've had resolutions in both directions. Usually the answer is a return, so no one really loses. It's not as risky as people often make it sound, so if it comes up in the future just make sure all the information is verified and all that before shipping.

The safest thing is to wait for the payment to clear so that it's actually in your bank account. Then the only Paypal can reverse it after a dispute resolution. Just make sure to tell the buyer you'll be doing this if they use credit.
