Pausing

This is sort of a quirky question, but is it possible, without using a remote, to pause a camcorder without actually shaking it or causing a little jerk in the picture?

XCheck, I'm assuming the you mean, shoot the man in the shot, pause the camera, then have man leave shot. Right? Well it is possible to be very careful, with a camera firmly locked down on a heavy duty tripod, to turn it on and off. I have done it. However, I like to just keep the camera running and cut the "man walking out of frame" footage out in post.

That's what I meant. But what if you need to change an actor's make up for a transition shot? That can take a half an hour - sure you wouldn't have the camera running for that long.

Anyway - I think it is possible (heavy tripod locked down), and can think of many scenarios where you would want to do that.

Just tie it down very securely and be careful when fiddleing with the camera and you should be fine. Keep people away from the camera and off the set in between the shots. You do not want a Pesi can to show up in the new shot (or what ever).
