Looking for an economical light kit. The Paterson Pro 1000 with adjustable intensity is attractive but it does have a fan. Any opinions?

I would be a bit concerned about any fixtures that use fans if you are intending to shoot sync projects. Also, dimmable fixtures may have both flicker and added noise problems when dimmed down (depending upon the technique that they use).
I have no experience with Paterson as a brand, nor these specific heads, so I can't make any specific comments as to their applicability.
hey khmuse (forgot your name) cute kid... congrats on her progress in acting. Anyway, I'm still going to take you up on your offer to read part of my script. almost ready to send it out to a few readers.
Thanks for the note. My daughter does keep us pretty busy to say the least! I'll be happy to look at the script and the offer of passing it along to the literary agent still stands.
Personally I wouldn't mess with any light with a cooling fan. For that price you could get 2, 1K Britek lights with softboxes. Personally I wouldn't bother with the Britek lights stands, I got Bogan Stackers from B&H but for like as cheap as they are I would be tempted. I have 2 Britek 600s and love them, so do many of the others on this board.
Lights with fans in 'em are typically designed for still photography work, not for video. I'd advise to avoid fan-based lights. The Briteks are very low priced for what they offer; they're not fully "professional" lights but they're certainly great for the price. Also look into buying some used Mole Richardson lights off ebay; you can get some competitive pricing on genuine professional equipment that may not be "latest generation" but puts out perfectly usable light.
