Parting with my DVX

I have decided to part with my DVX100. And not just with the camera, all my production equipment.

Who's up for banning me?

Well, it's been a good run...

Re: Parting with my DVX

hmmm, I don't think a ban is necessary, but I have to say I am curious about your decision. Care to share?

Re: Parting with my DVX

Would you like me to hold on to your equipment for a couple years, while you decide what you really want to do? ;D

I'm just trying to help! ;)

HaHa. Nice try.

Two years ago I purchased the DVX with a dream! Ok, maybe I'm too caught up in yesterday being MLK day, but really I bought it with a goal in mind. I recently achieved that goal and now my DVX and all my other gear sits in my closet and collects dust. So it's been six months now, and I think it would be better put in the hands of someone who will use it.

It has honestly been the best investment of my life.

Re: Parting with my DVX

Have you no more goals as a filmmaker? You obviously have interest, or you wouldn't be here.

Re: Parting with my DVX

Just cause you work for an ad agency - DDC - now doesn't mean you have to give up filmmaking ... or are you using a varicam from now on?  ::) ::)

Re: Parting with my DVX

I remember reading about your KFC "Big Fish" commercial. That was really good.

Good luck in all your endeavors!

Re: Parting with my DVX

Well it looks like you got exactly what you set out to do; right on! Good luck with your futures!

And get the flock out of dvxuser!

Joking :D ;D

Re: Parting with my DVX

Man, do you have no morals?:o If you want to do beer commercials, pick a company that makes beer, not a concentrate for piss distillation!

It's great ad, though. Too bad the product can't be consumed without harming your taste buds.

Re: Parting with my DVX

I'm definitely not giving up my filmmaking interests. It's my passion!

And I'll still be around on this board. I love talking about filmmaking.

Re: Parting with my DVX

Well, Jim, aside from being well rounded (figuratively speaking, of course, since we are talking about beer), I am also a connoiseur of fine beers, which, being from the bucolic land of Bohemia, I consider as a birth right and patriotic obligation. ;)

But let's not start any beer wars, lest the Irish, Dutch and Germans stay in their sleeping holes.

I don't get it. If you're not giving up your passion, why has all your equipment gathered dust . . . or what are you replacing the equipment with?

Honestly, not understanding here. :-/ I have a hard time believing you bought all that stuff just to make a beer commercial.
