Parrot ANAFI - New 4k HDR 21MP Portable Drone for $699

There is a lot to like here, tempting. One feature I like is that it's impossible to get the props into any shot due to the camera sticking way out ahead of the props.

The irony here is that their modularity is a state-of-the-art beautiful experience.

They are also filled with certain features not seen in any other cameras.

Personally, I think the boxes are beautiful...

I'm not much of a drone guy, but I feel like they all have looked similar/the same for the past 5 years.

Every time I see something really impressive, it ends up being a cinema camera on a mini helicopter (or on one of those heavy-duty drones with camera casings).

The past few RED shoots I have done where I built the camera, I had a different experience. From a design standpoint, it is literally a vertical shoebox and you must hang and bolt every extraneous piece of gear onto the body and none of them have a design flow, at all.
You are bolting rectangular pieces onto a bigger rectangular box. To me, very awkward, poorly designed with little to no integration and flow. And please lose the stupid skulls, I don't know anyone who wants skulls on their camera. REDs are great pieces of gear but I feel that their design
in general, is garage at best. The images, which are what really matter, are superb, but as a camera op, REDs are not so great. Arris are a box also, but a better designed box system as is the Canon C700 FF I've been playing with. REDs are just...awkward.

Are you guys actually liking the footage? The specs look great for a package this small, but the footage looks incredibly over sharpened to my eyes in a harsh way. Based on footage alone, I'm not seeing this as an upgrade to the Mavic.

I'm still waiting for something that has an image at least as good as the P4 Pro, but in a small package. Doesn't need to be stupid small, but in the zone of the Mavic, but without the edges of all objects looking like they were clipped from various newspapers and pasted onto the frame, in terms of IQ.

Basically, I'd like to see a drone that is small but with a decent size sensor and a proper aperture. Kind of like what Sony has done with A6xxx series cameras, minus the overheating issues. At least air cooling should be easy! ; )

Also, it doesn't need to be consumer priced. If it costs more to put that type of sensor and supporting gimbal on a body the size of a mavic, so be it. I'd pay more than the P4 pro price to have that combo. Again, I'm sure it's coming.

Edit: On second glance, I do see what appears to be better DR than what I was able to get on the Mavic.

I'm just glad I went with the p4pro +, I don't lose sleep over every new system that comes and goes.

I am still waiting to see more footage, some stuff released by the company looks quite good but stuff posted by early customers, yes it does look a little harsh.

If you feel the current "modularity" of RED is one of their strengths (which is totally fine of course), we would definitely need a separate thread if we were to bring that discussion to any form of conclusion—even if we agree to disagree at the end. =)

Personally, even though I love the image I can get with my Helium, I'm on the fence about the modularity part. On the one hand, it's nice that you can rig it however you want, but on the other the ergonomics are generally not all that great. And the DSMC2 bodies don't have timecode, audio inputs or a headphone jack, power, or anything on them, so the minimal rig requires at least one I/O box of some type.

The audio part is annoying. There's only one module that gets audio right for the DSMC2, and it's on the pricey side. The Tilta cage failed miserably in v1, and v2 fails less miserably since it still relies on the Red's virtual sliders.
