paranoia 24pa

My question relates to the speed of editing acheived through RT settings.

I am editing tons of footage in 24pa. I am brand new, so every warning screen freaks me out.
When I insert a captured clip into the timeline, with the setting on RT UNLIMITED, i get periodic warning signals about dropped frames. Is this just warning me about the frame dropped due to the 24pa formula that drops x amount of frames? If so, can I turn of the warning and edit using the preview render (green bar) and just rely on the fact that I can render everything when I'm done?

Or is it better to render as I go. If I render the footage in the timeline the drop frame warning no longer appears. Obviously this is very time comsuming for my work pace. What should I worry and not worry about regarding this issue? Thanks!

Check your item properties on your clips, and check your sequence settings. Both should be at 23.98 fps and you shouldn't have to render at all.

Yeah, you shouldn't have to render 24pa footage if things are done properly. you only need to render if you apply filters to it.

It "drops frames" because for some reason or another your computer doesn't have enough "juice" to run the program without the odd glitch. If I get a ton of drop frame warnings I will close the program then reopen it... sometimes then I don't get them at all.

so what are they talking about on the "five star" thread titled "24pa capture prob...again". The first two people say that the files should have to re-render. I'm confused.

If you remove the pulldown during capture, (making your clips 23.98) you do not have to render, as long as your sequence (timeline) is 23.98 as well.
