Sorry if this is a redundant thread, but after searching I couldn't find the exact answer to my question:
I'm planning to buy either the Lanternlock or the Jem Ball harp to mount on a c-stand and securely hold a paper lantern. Reading through old threads, it seems people prefer the diffusion of the paper versus nylon balls. There is a significant price difference. Jem 19" harp is around $145, and the Lanternlock seems more in the $85 range.
Can you use cheap paper balls in these harps or do you have to buy the proprietary ones?
Has anyone that's used both speak to the build construction or differences between the two?
