Panny Tape Question...

Though I've been using Sony tapes in my DVX, I wanted to keep my new HVX all Panny. It was my intention to use only Panny AY-DVM63MQ Master series tapes, however on my first order I accidentally got the AY-DVM63AMQ Advanced Master tapes. What's the difference other than costing $2 more each? And is it ok to switch to the regualr master tapes when I run out? I know they both use dry lube.

Thanks,
Jarek

I shot on PDVM-40MEs for years w/o any problems but I had terrible hits, dropouts, etc. when I tried them in our hvx-200. I ran a cleaning tape through and switched to the AMQs and they seem to be working much better. I think it's just a better grade of tape. Have you noticed any problems w/ your footage on the Sony tapes in your hvx-200?

The MQ's (or PQ's) should be fine. I had never heard of the Advanced MQ's though. Sounds like Panny has improved their tape stock again. I'd go for the Advanced MQ's if your budget permits.

Yes it's just a better grade of tape that's all. Eventually Panny will stop selling the MQ if not already so you should stock up.

Never put sonys in my HVX. But been using sonys in my DVX for years with no problems. I guess as long as you use one type and stick with it you're fine.

My question was if it's ok to now switch from the Advanced Masters to the Regular Masters on my HVX?

Does anyone know of any update on the difference between the Advanced and standard Master tapes?

I am looking to make a purchase for some and I have the budget for both but if the difference is small then I will just go with the standard master.
