Panny focal length is 4.5mm-45mm

Its getting kind of complicated with me. Ok we say 28mm lens are wide angle, 18mm are extremely wide angle and you get alot of distortion. But here its 4.5mm-45mm, there's got to be a simple explanation to that. Sorry for sounding like a CAVEMAN. :-(

It's not 35mm equivalent. Focal length measurement depends on the size of the imaging chip. With cameras like a DVX (1/3'' chip) there's a conversion factor of roughly 7. So 4.5mm is equivalent to about 32.5mm in 35mm equivalent.
