Panasonics on Sale, New Cameras at NAB?

It appears that Panasonic is trying to sell off their HPX250s, AC160s, and AC130s before NAB. Here's the link.

Would this be because they're announcing new cameras at NAB? If so then it seems likely that the new cameras will have similar qualities as the ones they're trying to sell off, except a little better and maybe cheaper too. Anybody heard any rumors about what these new cameras will be? Any guesses?

I think there's another far more likely explanation. Rather than "trying to sell off" their existing models, they're likely trying to stimulate sales in a horrible world economy. All three of those models are quite new and are very unlikely to be replaced this soon.

Historically Panasonic has updated their camera lines cyclically, one year they'll update the mid range, next year the small range, then the next year the big range. If that holds, we could probably expect to see more announcements in the big range (2/3") but I would be quite surprised if there's any new announcements among the 1/3" group. I would very much expect no new camera announcements in the 1/3" range this year. If they do, it would be quite surprising.

Panasonic already has the HPX-600 which pretty much just came out, to cover the mid-range of the pro line, and the 3100 is only a year old. If they do come out with something in the high end, it may well be the rumored 4K cinema camera, otherwise it might be a Varicam replacement seeing as the 3700 is fairly long in the tooth.
