.. im not sure what you mean by this question .. they are both true 24p, and they both use the same cadence to record 24p to tape but the varicam can also do many other cadances to record in other framerates as well, ans requires special equipment to pull down all the other cadances.
The DVX shoots at 23.976 frames per second. There is practically no difference between that and "real" 24P... it's a speed difference of 1/10 of 1%.
The VariCam shoots at just about any frame rate between about 4 and 60 frames per second, in 1-fps increments. It writes it to tape as 60P, duplicating frames as necessary to fill in the ratio to make 60 (so, if shooting 4P, each frame gets written to tape 15 times, etc).
..yep those 2 framerates(23.976 and 24) are interchangeable, just like 30fps and 29.976. you can edit it at true 24p if you want instead of 23.976, and it wount make a difference in output other than the small speed change in playback on video equipment (no difference for filmout at all.. cause the 24 frames go to 24 frames on film, and are played back at the film speed) that nobody in the world could actually notice or differentiate.
The Varicam is a kick ass cam...My friend in ChiTown has one and boy is it fun to play with...In fact I will post a music video we are filming with it soon
Post it!! Because that is a camera I would like to get. If only I could convince my old man. Since I couldn't, I had to get the DVX, which is a very good camera, and I am very happy with.
